Finding God in Everyday Life
Christian Life Community (CLC) is for people who want to understand more deeply how God is at work in their everyday lives. A lay international Catholic organisation present in over 60 countries, CLC is a World Community lived out in small local groups who meet regularly to pray, share, and support one another through the ups and downs of ordinary life.
Rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola, CLC began soon after Ignatius's death and was renewed and renamed in 1968. Each local group helps its members to know Christ better and to seek and respond to what He is asking of them, individually and collectively. CLC maintains a close relationship with the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), the religious order which Saint Ignatius founded.
The first CLC group in Australia was founded in Adelaide in 1976. Since then, CLC has spread to all mainland states, with about 90 groups meeting regularly across the country.

We try to pray each day, learning to meditate on the Scriptures and to reflect on the working of God in our lives. Over time, this daily practice helps us to grow in sensitivity to the ways God is leading us, both in quiet moments and in the midst of our ordinary activities. We see our relationship with Jesus as central to our lives. We grow in our experience of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius through retreats and by using Ignatian methods of prayer, including the Daily Examen — a simple practice of reviewing each day to notice where God has been present.

In our regular community meetings we listen to how God has been at work in each other's lives, receive support and are encouraged to persevere in deepening our union with God. At regional and national gatherings we connect with the wider community and widen our horizons. Our community is not just a meeting — it is a way of accompanying one another on the journey of faith.

We are companions of Christ in his mission to establish the reign of God wherever we live or ork. We are companions of Christ in his mission to establish the reign of God wherever we live or ork. Through prayer and community, each of us discovers our call to serve Christ — in the me, at work, in the parish, in the local community, and through organisations working to reform the unjust structures of society. We are particularly aware of the pressing need to work for justice through a preferential option for the poor and a simple way of life.
